2000:
founding of a clinic for Tibetan and Chinese medicine with affiliated herbal
medicinary, Bamei (Garthar) of the Tibetan region of
Sichuan province, cooperating with local physicians in
Tibetan medicine. In September 2002, the project started receiving funds from Majoh
Foundation, the
Netherlands.

 

1999-
2001: three fieldtrips to
Tibet and the Tibetan autonomous region of Kandze,
China
with total accumulated sojourn of 1+ year, for study
of herbs, Tibetan Buddhism, and for voluntary medical assistance.

 

Language abilities: fluent knowledge of written and spoken Dutch,
Chinese, French, English; fair knowledge of written and spoken German; basic
knowledge of Tibetan (Amdo dialect). Profound knowledge of classical medical
Chinese.

 

General interests: 3 years of painting arts, and 2 years of
dramatic arts, several years of martial arts, and gymnastics. Strong interest
in Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism from a scholar and a practicing layman’s angle.
Free time spent practicing aikido, windsurfing, playing tennis and going on
outings with family.
